Support Homeowners Like Ms. Barbara!

For Ms. Barbara, her home is her castle. Your support made it possible for Energy Coordinating Agency (ECA) to provide her with critical home renovations, which led not only to a more energy efficient structure and the reduction of carbon emissions, but also took us one step closer to a healthier and happier Philadelphia.

Ms. Barbara has lived in her Hunting Park row home for 20 years and done her best with basic upkeep. But over the years, mold from water damage after a major storm, alongside cracking cement and drywall have become overwhelming. She wants a house that is weatherized and efficient but how can she get there when fundamental repairs are needed?

That’s where ECA comes in, collaborating with partner organizations to implement a whole home repair program. Together, we’re able to support low-income homeowners with everything from critical home stabilization measures and health and safety improvements to energy efficiency and clean energy upgrades.

For residents like Ms. Barbara, we have to fix the basics before we can get to work reducing her energy burden. When our team was done, not only was the mold remediated and cement and drywall fixed, but her house was weatherized and she got a new hot water heater and solar panels!

There are tens of thousands of Philadelphia homeowners who need this kind of help. The coming decade is a critical period in the dual efforts to mitigate carbon emissions and build resilience for frontline communities. The time to scale is now. As Ms. Barbara put it, “they need more funding. People need that help.” Last year, we were able to renovate 50 homes through the whole home repair program. Will you help us continue to scale up by making a donation this year?
