ECA EXCEEDS ITS WEATHERIZATION GOALS
We are proud to announce that ECA has weatherized over 840 homes with federal stimulus dollars. For 2009-2010, ECA received over $7 million for the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Our goal was to use the first half of the ARRA funds to weatherize 825 homes by September 30, 2010, and we have surpassed that goal! ECA also used the stimulus funds to hire 49 new employees in the last year. For more information on ECA’s low-income services, see below.
In 2010, ECA and the Neighborhood Energy Centers (NECs) provided 54,079 services to over 40,000 low income households in Philadelphia.
These services reduced utility bills for families by 20 to 30%, allowing them to stay in their homes and creating safer, healthier indoor environments. Intake for most of these programs is available through ECA's 14 Neighborhood Energy Centers.
"During a recent audit of my sister's home I had the pleasure of meeting two of your employees. What a positive experience! They took the time to fully explain what they were doing and why, plus treated us with dignity and respect. Their level of knowledge gave my sister confidence in their abilities. You and your organization are to be commended on the quality of your employees."
