In partnership with Dow Chemical Company and the City of Philadelphia, ECA held the Coolest Block Contest, an opportunity for one block in Philly to win FREE white roof coating, air sealing and insulation for the entire block!

After reviewing applications from 74 blocks, the judges have chosen, and the coolest block is…. 1200 BLOCK OF WOLF ST! This block was chosen for its outstanding community spirit, high participation rate, quality of roofs currently installed, and essay submission. The energy saving measures that these homes will receive will save residents 20-30% on energy costs and will create a safer and more comfortable indoor environment for residents. The residents of 1200 Wolf celebrated their victory with a block party on June 19th. On the same day that he announced the contest winner, Mayor Nutter signed into law new legislation requiring installation of cool roofs or green roofs on all new low-slope roofs in Philadelphia.
